The Old Town Guest House stands as a charming retreat nestled in the heart of Hastings’ historic Old Town. With a strong rating of 4.6, this guest house offers visitors a unique blend of comfort and authentic local atmosphere. Its prime location at 1a George St makes it an ideal base for those eager to explore the rich heritage and scenic beauty of the area, including the nearby Hastings Castle and the beach just a short walk away.

Guests consistently highlight the personal touch brought by Tracey, the sole manager and heart of the establishment. Her warm hospitality and helpful local recommendations enhance every stay, creating a welcoming and intimate experience. The rooms, while simple, are clean and comfortable, thoughtfully equipped with all essentials to ensure a restful visit. The option to pre-select breakfast adds convenience, featuring tasty choices that cater well to diverse palates, including vegetarian options appreciated by many.

Despite the absence of onsite parking and shared bathroom arrangements for some rooms, these minor compromises are offset by the guest house’s unbeatable location and sincere care. We visited Hastings and enjoy the town very much. Tracey at The Guest house is a force of nature, she manages the place by herself, rooms are confortable and you have everything you need. you can chose your breakfast the day before, and it was delicious, she is very kind and gave us plenty of recommendations in town. Located in the Old town center, you can walk everywhere. Highly recommend it!

Came for the second time. Location perfect and view stunning. Our room was comfortable, impeccably clean and had good clothes storage. Breakfast requests have to be chalked on a board which we duly did. Then we discovered we could also request black pudding so we chalked that up too. The following morning the black pudding was not forthcoming. We also discovered that if we wanted preserves with our toast we had to specifically ask! On our previous visit some time ago, the stairways were in serious need of repaint. They remain as shabby as before. Additionally, the door to our room appears to have been broken into and shabbily repaired. This looks particularly bad. You get what you pay for. This establishment is good, but to describe it as 4 star is stretching it!

I had a fantastic stay in a great location right in the heart of the old town. While there is no on-site parking and parking in the area can be expensive, this is expected given the location. The double single room on the top floor has a separate bathroom across the hallway, but this wasn’t an issue as robes were provided for added comfort. Tracey and her daughter were absolutely wonderful—always friendly, helpful, and eager to make me feel at home. The breakfast was excellent, and when I needed an ironing board, Tracey kindly set it up for me in the communal area. Overall, a really lovely experience, and when I visit Hastings again, I’ll definitely be staying here!

I enjoyed a 2-night star at the start of August. The proprietor arranged someone to carry my case up 3 flights of stairs. The vegetarian breakfast option was great. The bedroom was clean and tidy. It was nice to be so central. The bathroom was shared with another guest on the same floor but I never had an access problem when I needed it.
